Bio
Angelica Cox is a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and producer whose sound is rooted in dreamy nostalgia and blends ethereal vocals and hooky melodies with deeply personal lyrics. She explores themes of grief, mental health, unrequited love, and coming of age.
Angelica spent her childhood winding through Laurel Canyon and roaming Hollywood’s rock ‘n roll hotspots before spending her later teen years in Las Vegas, eventually learning to accept the desert as a second home. Her lyrics often draw from memories of these cities as well as the difficulty of leaving a past life behind.
Upon moving back to Los Angeles in 2017, Angelica began exploring the live music scene by playing in bands Crying Cosmos and Girlfiend. She then released her first solo single “Gardens” in 2019 and EP “Doing Fine” in 2020.
While her early solo work had a heavier folk influence, her 2023 EP “Freaking Out” and accompanying singles “i’m freaking out” and “Airplanes” saw an exciting turn to dream pop blended with 90’s pop rock. During this time, Angelica honed in on her music production skills, not only contributing heavily to the production on “Freaking Out” but also producing and co-writing for other artists such as PISSKISS.
In 2024, Angelica released singles “Jane” and “Homesick” from her upcoming debut album. This body of work will be Angelica’s most ambitious set of songs to date, pulling from her previous folk and dream pop influences as well as elements of shoegaze, 60s-70s rock and modern indie pop.
Angelica’s voice and songwriting can also be heard on television shows such as Bob’s Burgers, The Great North, and Central Park.
